The CF Montreal, which recently indicated that it was bothering a phase of reconstruction of its organization, made a change within its management on Thursday. Director Soccer, Corey Wray, decided to leave, with immediate effect.
The CF Montreal sports management will continue to be controlled by the main director, recruitment and sports methodology, Luca Saputo, the main director, Academy and Management of the workforce, Simone Saputo, as well as the President and Chief Executive Officer, Gabriel Gervais.
Wray had been hired just over a year ago on July 9, 2024.
Wray had the mandate to “collaborate closely with club technical staff in the coming months as a consultant in the sports strategy. Through the analysis and optimization of club sports activities, Wray will support the president and chief executive officer Gabriel Gervais and the technical team in place ”.
Wray then brought an expertise of 18 seasons in MLS, including three MLS cups and a title of ‘Shield supporters. He had previously been deputy managing director of the Crew de Columbus, as well as the director general of the Crew de Columbus 2 since his inaugural season, in 2022. Under his direction, CREW 2 won the MLS Next Pro championship in his first season, with 16 victories, and he was a finalist in 2023.
Before joining the CREW, WRAY had occupied various roles with the Toronto FC as deputy director general, team operations and strategy (2017-2020), Team Operations Director (2015 to 2017), Senior Team Operations Manager (2014-2015).
A graduate of Brock University in 2007 with a baccalaureate in sport management, Wray had joined the Toronto FC as an intern of the club, in 2006.
The CF Montreal is currently 14th in his association with 19 points, and he will face the worst East team, DC United, in his next match on Saturday evening at the Saputo stadium.
