ASU LUXEMBOURG: “The crisis was entirely caused by the government”
In their 2024/2025 parliamentary assessment, the Greens agitated the spectrum of the social crisis and deplored “the arrogance” of the government.
“My wish for the future is that we manage to have a little more cohesion between all the partners at the national level, and that in the Chamber, there is more respect on the part of the majority vis-à-vis the work of the opposition, and in the face of the work of the Parliament in general”.
The tone is set. President of the Greens in the House, Sam Tanson presented this Wednesday the parliamentary assessment of Déi Gréng. Stressing the current social crisis in satiety between the government and the social partners, the former Minister of Culture believes that “we are in a situation which was made unnecessarily by the acts of the government. Personally, I do not remember a crisis of such magnitude, ”she slips, as soon as it is veiled to the monster demonstration of June 28. And Sam Tanson to insist: “Still between the two towers of negotiations, the government made mistakes of communication, arrogance in the face of unions. This arrogance is intrinsic to the government’s speech, and that worries us. We hope that these negotiations will lead to an agreement, but in the meantime, the Chamber is excluded from these discussions. It’s a shame”.
“The majority endangers peace between institutions”
In the sights of the Déi Gréng deputy, the democratic process of the Chamber undermined, she said. “We have a problem with access to documents. I asked to have the PV of the Government Council on May 2, and … I’m still waiting for an answer on this subject! The majority endangers peace between institutions ”. Sam Tanson regrets in particular the arrogance of Serge Wilmes, Minister of the Environment. “A few weeks ago, he reacted completely inappropriate, following an extended question of Sven Clement. Following this, the opposition formulated a motion to request that the minority be respected, and the majority refused to vote it. It means everything … “.
Active on all fronts, the four deputies Déi Gréng, Sam Tanson, Djuna Bernard, Joëlle Welfring and Meris Sehovic have paid particular attention to their traditional battle horses, the environment, the climate, mobility. “We see regressions in environmental and climatic policy. The law relating to the protection of nature is rather there to remove from the greenery of cities and localities, than the opposite. In the midst of biodiversity crisis, we find it really problematic, “says Sam Tanson.
“It is a damage to all the work done”
Which is not more jovial when it approaches the theme of mobility. “We regret that aid for electric mobility has been reduced, and we find a drop in sales of electric vehicles. All of this is part of this logic of government destabilization. The population no longer really knows where it is, it’s a shame. Electricity prices are increasing, while aid decreases. This, when it would be precisely the moment when we need it. ”
Finally, with regard to the Caritas file, Sam Tanson notes “a very good collaboration within the commission” dedicated. “Lots of recommendations have been selected in the final report. Unfortunately, after, when it came to voting within the room a motion taking up all the requests made in the report, the majority purely and simply refused to vote the motion. It is a damage to all the work done ”.
