Sunshine Coffee: the organic and compostable capsule born from a student friendship

Graduates respectively in civil engineering and organic engineering, the two friends gathered around a coffee, and little by little, the idea is making its way: “What do we do with all these aluminum capsules? Couldn’t we do better?” The desire to undertake was there, you had to find the idea, but not just any: “We always wanted to launch a positive impact project” Recalls Antoine. During his studies of biongelia, it is rather Mathieu who is aware of the environmental cause. Together, they deplore this observation: Even if aluminum capsules are technically recyclable, “Only one in five is really it” assures Mathieu. The rest ends up in the trash, generating tons of waste Each year. Biodegradable pods and capsules exist on the market, but according to these coffee lovers, they do not offer the same quality as aluminum capsules. Sunshine Coffee intends to reconcile quality and sustainability.

Their project is retained by the incubator of Louvain-la-Neuve Ice Louvain. The structure offers a support program dedicated to students entrepreneurs or young graduates·e·s for maximum year, for the development of entrepreneurial projects.
