The Swiss are satisfied with their lives, less of their politicians
What do the Swiss prefer? Their children long before their elected officials, according to a study. In rural areas, political distrust reaches its height.

The Swiss population posted high overall satisfaction Regarding his life, but is more critical of his politicians and his financial situation, according to a recent representative survey conducted by moneyland.ch. The investigation, which questioned 1,500 people in German -speaking and French -speaking Switzerland, reveals significant disparities according to the regions, age and heritage.
The Swiss awarded an average note of 7.3 out of 10 points to their general satisfaction. However, with only 5.5 points, Swiss politicians collect the lowest note in the investigation, followed closely by the Federal Council (5.6 points). The personal financial situation (5.7 points) and wages (5.9 points) complete the bottom of the ranking.
Political dissatisfaction is particularly marked in rural areas, where the inhabitants of municipalities under 2,000 inhabitants give only 4.9 points to politicians and 5.0 points to the Federal Council. These results, although slightly better than two years ago, remain worrying.
Decisive financial situation
The satisfaction concerning the personal financial situation increases proportionately with fortune. People with a heritage of less than 20,000 francs assess their financial satisfaction at only 4.6 points, while those with at least one million francs reach 7.6 points. In addition, men (6.0 points) are more satisfied with their finances than women (5.5 points).

The Swiss derive their greatest satisfaction from their family, with 7.9 points for their children and 7.5 points for their parents. The Romands seem particularly attached to their loved ones, attributing 8.2 points to their children and 7.7 points to their parents, against 7.7 and 7.4 points respectively among the German Swiss.

The satisfaction concerning public transport has increased slightly since 2023, going from 6.5 to 6.8 points. However, a considerable gap exists between linguistic regions: German Swiss attribute 7.0 points to public transport, against only 6.5 points for the Romands, which feel historically neglected in terms of rail infrastructure.
