Switzerland was “more than ready” to welcome a summit between Russia and Ukraine, said federal adviser Ignazio Cassis. The Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs notably underlined the Swiss know-how in this area.
(Keystone-ATS) “I believe at 200% in the organization of this summit and we have discussions in this sense for a long time,” said Ignazio Cassis during a joint appearance with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani in Bern. Ticino also explained that it has already recalled on several occasions the availability of Switzerland to the chief of Russian diplomacy Sergei Lavrov.
Ignazio Cassis also thanked French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the confidence they give to Switzerland. The chief of the DFAE said that Switzerland will offer “immunity” to Putin if he “comes for a peace conference.
For his part, Antonio Tajani stressed that Rome remained available for the organization of a summit, but that Italy “supported” Geneva.
