After starting the tournament as 85th world player, she switches to 24th place with this victory.

After a first set lost 6-1, the young player of 18 years made shift in her mental force and her capacity for reaction to beat Naomi Osaka, quadruple winner of Grand Colem tournaments who played her best tennis since her return to the courts. She has become the third Canadian to deserve this title since 1968.

“I didn’t think I was going to win this tournament like that, I don’t know what to say except for my god. Naomi is a very good player, I was a little nervous before this match, but finally it was incredible, “she said in French after the meeting on TVA Sports.

Like the day before against Elena Rybakina, the first set is complicated for Victoria Mboko. Very offensive, Naomi Osaka dominates the debates. The Canadian is unable to win only two small games losing 6-2 in a first one-way round.

The 18 -year -old player shows her mental strength and her reaction capacity, from the start of the second, winning the first game on her opponent’s service. On this second round, none of the two players is able to mark its own service on the first five games. Ontario leads 3-2 and by being the first to materialize on its service, it takes an advantage of 4-2.

Naomi Osaka seems to be completely losing ground, she concedes the following game without scoring a single point (5-2). Mboko does not take advantage of it by multiplying the double faults in the service. Osaka stays alive by returning to 5-3. The Japanese remains alive and comes out of her bad pass by largely dominating the following game thanks to a dominant service (5-4). Mboko still has the possibility of serving again for the set. This time, she does not let the opportunity pass and returns to a set everywhere after a last mastered game (6-4).

Third one -way round

It all starts wonderfully for the Canadian in the last round, with Osaka who loses the first point, again on her own service, without scoring a single point. Unfortunately, it again shows flaws on its service with several double faults which offers the second game to its opponent (1-1). This start of the third set looks like two drops of water in the second, with a third break In three games and Mboko who stays in front (2-1).

The following game is hard and lasts almost 10 minutes. The two players exchange equalities, 6 in total, including 4 break balls for Osaka. It is ultimately the local player who has the last word, on a fantastic cushioning which gives her an advantage of 3-1!

We attended the turn of the match. In the process, Mboko wins the game again on the service of his opponent to put himself in an ideal position to win the match. 4-1 then 5-1 by winning her put into play, she does not give her opponent a chance and wins 6-1.
