Sales of electric vehicles are down for Tesla, which is now focusing on other projects. Among them, we found the dojo supercomputer, but unfortunately, the dedicated team was dissolved. As a reminder, this project aspired the internal development of fleas for autonomous driving.

The old Dojo team launches its IA business
Peter Bannon, dojo project manager, and other team members are reassigned to other data and calculation centers projects, according to Bloomberg.
The restructuring comes then that twenty employees slammed the door of Tesla to found their own startup IA called Densityai, a direct competitor of Xai d’Elon Musk. Density AI was created by Ganesh Venkataramanan, the former chief of Dojo, and the former employees Bill Cheng and Ben Floering de Tesla.
This is a new company that develops fleas, hardware and software to supply AI data centers, dedicated to robotics, AI agents and mobile applications. In short, a very bad news for Tesla, while Elon Musk pushes the shareholders to see Tesla as a company of AI and robotics.
Despite these ambitions for authorization by AI, the launch of the Robotaxis was limited to Austin, although the deployment is preparing in San Francisco. Many driving problems have been reported for these models which are only models with a human in the passenger seat to ensure security, far from the cybercab which was presented by Tesla.
As for Optimus humanoid robots, they are constantly managed by a human from a distance. In short, we are very far from the automation sold by Elon Musk and his whimsical promises.

Dojo’s judgment is a strategic turnaround for a project that Elon Musk has been talking since 2019. The billionaire presented Dojo as the cornerstone of Tesla’s IA ambitions in terms of completely autonomous driving via its ability to “Treat real massive amounts of video data”.
Morgan Stanley had predicted in 2023 that Dojo could add 500 billion in market value to Tesla by unlocking new income flows via Robotaxis and software services. Last year, Elon Musk even explained that Tesla “Redouble efforts on dojo”.
Elon Musk has long promoted the Dojo project
Except that the promotion of Dojo brutally interrupted from August 2024, when Elon Musk began to communicate on Cortex described as “The new giant IA training SuperCluster built at Tesla’s headquarters in Austin to resolve real world”.
The Dojo project combined supercomputer and manufacturing of internal chips. Tesla had even unveiled her chip D1 during the official announcement of the project at the first AI Day of 2021. The manufacturer also worked on a new generation D2 chip. From now on, Tesla wishes to provide itself with Nvidia and other external partners such as AMD for calculation and Samsung for the manufacture of fleas. Being dependent, in short.
