Pebble is back. After stopping services by Fitbit in 2016, the emblematic brand of connected watches returns with two new models.
Following the redemption of Fitbit by Google, the firm decided to make Pebbleos Open-Source at the beginning of the year, which allowed Eric Migicovsky (founder of Pebble) to relaunch its brand of connected watches, which had closed shop in 2016. Pebble is therefore back with two new models, on a more than saturated market, where competition is fierce.
Here is the pebble 2 duo and the pebble time 2
It is therefore not one, but two pebble watches will arrive soon: La Pebble 2 Duo, a la Pebble Time 2. These two models are inspired by the old watches of the brand.
Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble, therefore lifts the veil on new details of the Pebble Time 2. This connected watch will be provided with a metal box, with a 1.5 inch color e-ink screen, and a heart rate sensor.
If the four colors offered for sale have no final names for the time being, you will have the choice between blue, red, black, as well as a silver color. Eric Migicovsky specifies that the model presented is only in its infancy, and turns under an old version of Pebble OS, modernized for the occasion.
There is also a second watch more accessible in the boxes: the Pebble 2 Duo. To reach a lower cost, its box is made of plastic, with an absence of a heart rate sensor, and a monochrome e-ink screen. However, she catches up with the presence of a barometer and a compass.
Among the common points between these two watches, there is an announced autonomy of around 30 days, a speaker accompanied by a microphone, the monitoring of steps and sleep, as well as IPX8 certification for water resistance.
The Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2 are offered at the prices of 149 and $ 225 on the brand’s official website. Although these watches are already available for pre -order, no marketing date is communicated for the time being. The company indicates that it will contact customers who pre -order soon to finalize their choice.
In a sector where the Apple Watch and the Wear OS watches reign supreme, it is curious to know whether the historic capital of Pebble will be enough to have it renewed its success of yesteryear.
