Samsung phones are known for One UI, one of the most functional and intuitive Android interfaces. Although highly customizable, these phones are often delivered with preinstalled bloatware (inflagicial). Some integrated Samsung applications, such as Wearable and Wallet, are useful within the Samsung ecosystem. However, there are at least five proprietary applications that even the most loyal Samsung users rarely use.
Preinstalled Bloatware applications can vary depending on the device, the price and the range, but many are common to all Galaxy phones. Although it is not possible to uninstall them all, they are easy to deactivate and can be reactivated if necessary.
If you do not use them, it is advisable to uninstall them or deactivate them to save memory and reduce battery consumption in the background.
Global Goals
Samsung’s Global Goals application promotes sustainable development. Users can earn money using advertisements or by donating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The idea is noble, but I do not think that all Samsung users wish to make a donation via an application, and not everyone wants to have it on their device.
Samsung Free
Samsung Free allows you to watch films, TV series, live programs, the latest news and much more. This application looks like Samsung TV Plus. It has a “Watch TV Plus” button, which redirects you to another application to look at the same content. In addition to the Plus TV features, you have two additional tabs, “Read” and “Play”, which allow you to read the latest news articles and play games.
This is one of the unnecessary and Bloatware applications that I recommend uninstalling upon the configuration of your phone.
Samsung TV Plus
It is a free TV streaming service, funded by advertising, belonging to Samsung. It can be interesting if you are not subscribed to any streaming service. With a little luck, you could even find free paid movies on Amazon Prime Video. The application offers more than 1,200 channels in 24 countries.
That said, Samsung TV Plus is not like Apple TV or Prime Video. The South Korean firm does not produce series or original films. If you are not watching television on your phone and you have already subscribed to Netflix, HBO Max, etc., it may be wise to uninstall Samsung TV Plus.
Samsung Shop
The Samsung Shop application is a shopping application for Samsung devices. The objective is to offer more personalized content, such as product recommendations and special offers for saved products. Like the Apple Store application on iPhone, you can discover new offers and advantages on Samsung products.
However, these offers can often clutter notifications and hinder the One UI experience. You can always consult the Samsung website to find out more about current offers. It is therefore wise to unclutter your Galaxy phone and save the storage space.
Samsung Kids
This application is designed for children and aims to help them develop their reflection capacities. Samsung says it is a secure space for the little ones and that it allows them to adopt healthy digital habits. If you have a child, Samsung Kids may have a use.
For the others, this application is greedy in storage space and sends unwanted notifications if you press the authorize button.
Most Samsung Galaxy phones are delivered with Microsoft applications and preinstalled social media applications like Facebook and Snapchat. There are other Samsung applications, such as Gaming Hub, which can be useful for players, but less for productivity -oriented users.
Each preinstalled application can be useful for certain users and clutter memory for others. I highly recommend that you browse your apps installed once your phone is configured, in order to uninstall unnecessary software.
