Negotiations between Air Canada and its on-board officers have repercussions to Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. The cancellation of flights at Quebec and Montreal airports could prevent some travelers from reaching their destination.
Promotion Saguenay, the organization responsible for Saguenay – Bagotville airport, indicates that no flight from its facilities is compromised by the strike.
She specifies that airport flights are provided by the Jazz subsidiary, which is affiliated, but not directly managed by Air Canada. This company is therefore not concerned by the labor conflict.

However, on Thursday, travelers from the region had already seen their correspondence flight canceled, because regional flights often make a stopover in Quebec or Montreal.
Several others say they are worried that their plans are upset if the strike is officially triggered on Saturday. This uncertainty complicates the work of certain travel agencies, including the agency.
Travel plans, it is preparing, we take a vacation and it is sure that it brings a little anxiety. Some customers whose flight is canceled, we take care of it and we rebooke other flights
said the company’s co -owner, Michaël Gagnon.
Other travel agencies, however, keep hope and rely on a rapid conflict resolution.
It makes me think a little bit of the pandemic, where we were at the beginning a little bit in uncertainty and all that, but we understand that it will not be able to last forever, in the sense that the federal government will intervene or there will be actions that will arise
added the co -owner of group travel Carpe Diem, Karen Tremblay.

Concerned chambers of commerce
Quebec chambers of commerce say they are very concerned about this strike. The Federation which brings them together requests the intervention of the federal government to end the deadlock. If necessary, it wants an enforceable arbitration to be imposed.
The concern concerns the impacts on the business community as much as on the current tourist season.
Business people who need connections to go internationally, they need this service. Investors who come to Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean to develop economic projects need this service
explains the president and general manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saguenay-the Fjord, Sandra Rossignol.
The tourist season, where there are international visitors, begins. September is the boom. So it is extremely important that it is settled, this conflict, and that we do not go on strike
she continues.

For its part, Air Canada said that customers affected by cancellations will be entitled to a full refund. In some cases, a flight with another airline can also be reserved on their behalf.
