The art of living on time (policy) borrowed

Normally, governments take advantage of summer to be forgotten. Question to take a vacation while leaving voters time to think of something other than files that do not turn round.

The CAQ, relegated to third place in the polls, is an exception.

In addition to inevitable federal-professional meetings on Tsunami Trump, Prime Minister François Legault is active on some fronts.

His problem is that he does so not to counter the image of a government often in improvisation mode, but to strengthen it.

Never

Among other examples, after having sowed panic in the school network with half a billion dollars in compressions, Bernard Drainville, Minister of Education, turned in the middle of summer before the parents’ anger.

At the same time, Geneviève Guilbault, Minister of Transport, was granted a roundness 275 million to “continue” the study of a third Quebec-Lévis link which everyone knows, however, that it will never be.

Meanwhile, the crises of housing and roaming continue to get away from it. The health network still cracks everywhere while the Santé Québec agency is in front of insistent media issues.

On August 18, the week following the by-election in Arthabaska, itself voluntarily buried by summer distractions, the Gallant Commission on the SAAQCLIC scandal will also resume its disturbing work.

Peaks

All completed this fall by a ministerial reshuffle telegraphy for months in advance by a Prime Minister whose unpopularity also reaches heights.

However, less than a year from the next elections, this will leave new ministers very shortly to try to find the lost compass of their government for more than two years already.

However, it is impossible to blame M. Legault to play everything for the whole. For the Prime Ministers at the end of the regime, the choice is indeed limited. Either they resign, or that they hang on. In the second hypothesis, this is called the perilous art of living on time (politics) borrowed.
