The Basel Cantonal Bank (BKB) recorded a significant increase in its profit in the first half of 2025. Management is careful for the second half, due to low interest rates and uncertain development of American customs tariffs.

(Keystone-ATS) The net profit of the BKB group, which includes the Cler bank, has registered at 85.6 million francs, which corresponds to an increase of 6.7% over one year. The operating profit climbed 4.9% to 139.1 million.

The main source of income, interest operations have made a net profit of 231.9 million francs, up 4.9%. This result is explained in particular by customer growth.

The product of trading activities remained almost stable at 28.1 million. The revenues from the commissions were coated from 2.0% to 69.7 million. The overall turnover signed up at 334.1 million, a gain of 3.4%.

The charges climbed 2.3% to 183.5 million francs.

The sum on the balance sheet has hardly changed at 55.6 billion francs (-0.4%), including 39.9 billion customers.

The figures of the parent company have followed a similar evolution. Net profit amounted to 78.6 million, up 7.0% over one year. The operating profit, at 109.6 million, remained stable. At 37.2 billion, the sum of the balance sheet has practically not changed either (-0.3%).

For the second half of 2025, the BKB did not provide encrypted forecasts. Management expects an always difficult economic and geopolitical environment. The persistent weakness of interest rates remains a key factor for the future development of results, writes the banking establishment. A new strategy for the coming years will be presented by the end of the month.
