Brave blocks Microsoft Recall by default
To continue to ensure the protection of the privacy of its users, Brave has just announced that from “version 1.81 for Windows users, the Brave browser will prevent Microsoft Recall from automatically taking screenshots of your navigation activity. ».
Due to the operation of Recall, which carries out screenshots at regular intervals of everything that Windows users do, Brave is concerned about the confidentiality of the navigation of its users. The browser editor, who still concedes that Microsoft has made changes to better protect user data, does not trust Microsoft.
To be sure that the navigation data of its users remain confidential, the Brave publisher has therefore decided to integrate, in the browser settings, a new option. Activated by default, this allows no more or less to block Recall in Windows 11 users. To do this, Brave applied the same logic as that used by Microsoft with private navigation windows which are automatically excluded from recall backup.
Thus, for each tab open in Brave, the browser thus makes Windows believe that it is a private navigation window, thus preventing Recall from photographing your activities.
The option, which is and will remain activated by default, will be in the browser settings, in the confidentiality and security section. However, it will be necessary to wait until August 5, the official release date of Brave 1.81, to take advantage of it.
