The dark mode would soon extend to these forgotten windows

One of the latest Windows 11 builds provides the system with a more complete, and above all more consistent dark mode, now taking charge of a set of windows, dialog boxes and interface elements that have so far been not managed properly.

We were talking to you at the beginning of the year of the particularly incomplete dark fashion problem of Windows 11, without knowing when Microsoft was finally going to (very) late, correcting the shot in the matter.

This week, an OS user has indeed discovered a hidden option in the build 26100.5061 of Windows 11. The latter allows you to activate a much more complete version of the dark theme … This time also managing interface elements, windows and “Legacy” dialog boxes. These different elements date in this case previous versions of Windows, sometimes Windows XP or even Windows 98.

A novelty much less harmless than it seems

If this change is important, it is because so far, Windows did not know how to extend the dark theme to these elements in particular, leading to their display in clear, and therefore to a lack of consistency within the dark mode.

This problem was notably visible on the old configuration panel, on the dialogue boxes dedicated to permanent file deletions, or on certain properties, among others. An all the more embarrassing concern since it persisted more than 9 years after the deployment of the first dark mode on Windows 10.

With a lot of delay, Microsoft nevertheless seems to have worked on the problem, through the build 26100.5061 Windows 11. The latter does not yet correct all color inconsistencies … and it also seems that the management of “Legacy” elements is not yet completely finalized, evidenced by the white buttons visible on the screenshot above.

As emphasizes WCCFTechwhich has also been able to test this new support, bugs are also still present on certain windows attached to the file explorer. This novelty may therefore require another several weeks of development before being deployed on a large scale, potentially with Windows 11 25H2.
