The dismantled stones of the Verviers justice palace are at Lantin prison. Will they be well kept?

The roof of the Verviers courthouse was partly dismantled, with its stone pediments. The building management explains that the “Janson” wing of this palace was unstable. The intention – officially – it is one day rebuilding identical.

The stones were numbered and a time stored on site under tarpaulins. They were then transported to block V of Lantin prison. To preserve them. But numbered stones, stored and … lost, it was seen. So, will those of the Verviers courthouse will be kept well in prison?

The risk of losing them

“In a surrealist country like ours, there is always a risk that it turns badly” Note the alderman of heritage Jean-François Chefneux who has just learned the transfer. “We can be surprised that stones from a Verviétois heritage work meet in Juprelle in a prison! We will have to be behind the actors of the file to ensure that it does not happen what happened to the stairs of Verviers station, which by dint of being tidy were definitively lost!”
