The CRE, in a decision published in March 2025, specifies that the note will increase according to two cases:

• Those not equipped with an advanced counter will be liable for a price term to cover the costs generated, or 6.48 euros every two months (therefore 38.88 euros per year);
• Those who do not communicate their indexes or do not make a succession appointment, this amount will be completed, to cover the additional costs due to increased checks, of an additional 4.14 euros every two months (therefore 24.84 euros per year).

If we add everything, we end up with 10.62 euros of additional costs every two months (therefore 63.72 euros per year).

It is not really a surprise, because Enedis had contacted the people concerned, in the summer of 2024 to prevent them from this possible overcharging.

How to explain this increase?

Note that people who cannot be equipped with a Linky counter, due to a technical incapacity On the part of Enedis, are not affected by this overcharging.

According to the Energy Regulatory Commission, which argues this billing decision, the counters of old generations “Enter special costs”namely costs inherent in the information system, succession, control, additional customer contact, etc.

In addition, a judgment of the Court of Cassation of April 9, 2025 is positioned in favor of the obligation not to obstruct the installation of the Linky meter. In other words, it is not possible to refuse its installation.
