“The state of persons does not concern any concern,” reassures the ARS in a statement, indicating that “immediate measures have been implemented to limit any risk of spread”.

The two people are both residents in Langon, South Gironde, and have not traveled in the last 15 days. DEENGE, also called “tropical flu”, is transmitted from person to person only through the bite of the tiger mosquito, itself carrying the virus.

A company to follow this insect in Gironde, Altopictus, carry out demospective operations near places frequented by the person in Langon, in order to “eliminate larval and adult mosquitoes that can transmit the virus”.

“The residents of the sectors concerned were informed by a flyer placed in their mailbox,” says the ARS. If the inhabitants have not received information in their mailbox, it is because their accommodation is not affected by these treatments. »»

A door-to-door investigation

ARS and Public Health France will carry out in collaboration with the town hall of Langon a door-to-door investigation “in order to identify people who have felt symptoms in previous weeks or who are currently presenting symptoms evocative of dengue (fever greater than 38.5 ° C, muscle pain, headache, joint pain, rash, fatigue) and inform them about driving.

Hospitals, liberal doctors, pharmacists and medical analysis laboratories are also alerted, the reporting of cases allowing “rapid intervention aimed at limiting the indigenous transmission of the disease”.

The ARS underlines the need to protect itself from mosquito bites, and recommends that the inhabitants of Langon “to apply a skin repellent, especially in the morning and at the end of the day”. To avoid the proliferation of mosquitoes, it recommends removing the stagnant waters in which mosquitoes are developing.

2 Aboriginal cases of dengue for 69 imported

As of August 12, 2025, 6 homes of Aboriginal transmission from Dengue (11 cases) were identified in France. The two cases of Langon are the first detected in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.

A first indigenous case of Chikungunya, also transmitted by the tiger mosquito, was declared on July 1, before being invalidated by the National Reference Center (CNR) of arboviroses. Two other Aboriginal cases of Chikungunya have since been identified in the Landes and the Pyrénées-Atlantique, for 115 cases imported from Chikungunya and 69 cases imported from dengue identified as probable or confirmed in the region.
