Miscellaneous facts. At the end of the evening on Monday, a general alarm was struck following an intervention by firefighters at Soucy Belgen, on boulevard Saint-Joseph, in the Saint-Nicéphore sector, in Drummondville.

The clock approached 11 p.m. when the sappers of the municipality were requested from the foundry.

When the first enrollment arrived, a general alarm was launched, which led the firefighters of Saint-Cyrille, Saint-Germain, Saint-Bonaventure and Durham-Sud to the place of the claim. About fifty sappers participated in the event at the height of the intervention.

The flames came out of a rear wall of the company and close to a hose located in height. Thick smoke was visible. A firefighter used a scale directly installed on the external structure to water the blaze while the scale truck gave access to the roof to other sappers.

At the same time, all employees had been evacuated to the gathering point against the building.

The flames were folded down for the first time before the firefighters realized that the fire had had time to spread in the structure. Using mechanical saws, they practiced openings in the metal wall to access hot spots.

The presence of gas and the power supply made the intervention even more risky.

Around midnight, the propagation seemed to have been slowed down, but the firefighters had to perform several checks.

The Quebec Civil Emergency Intervention Service (SIUCQ) was on site to ensure everyone’s safety. An ambulance had been requested in prevention.

The cause of the disaster was not yet known when writing these lines, but everything suggests that it would be accidental.
