A year after an innocent father and son were bounded during a shooting involving Montreal police, a family of Dollard-des-Ormeaux continues the city and agents for nearly $ 6.5 million.
“On August 4, 2024, members of the Abdallah family, who returned from a weekend of camping, were involuntarily involved in a shooting during which SPVM agents fired in their direction,” the Abdallah family denounced by press release on Monday morning.

On that day, the police of the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) pursued a suspect in a peaceful district of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, a city on the island of Montreal. The suspect, Nackaël Hickey, tried to steal the family car by threatening them with a firearm.

An exchange of shots between Hickey and the police followed and around forty balls were fired. The father, Houssam Abdallah, as well as his son, Rahman Abdallah, was reached by projectiles. Six balls touched first as a ball injured the second.
“To date, the Abdallah family has not had access to the results of the surveys carried out to shed light on the event, but given the criminal accusations carried against the individual, they understood that it was the police fire that reached them,” said the lawyer representing the family, Virginie Dufresne-Lemire.
The Abdallah family also criticizes the police involved for having ” [omis] to take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure their safety “and to have used” abusive force towards them “.
The agents concerned will be personally prosecuted by the family, indicates their lawyer, but their identity is still not known.
The family will therefore try to obtain compensation for damage suffered.
