The Jura – Palestine collective invites the Jura municipalities “to get out of silence”. He launched this Tuesday a campaign to ask them to sign the declaration brought by the cities of Lausanne and Geneva. The text asks the Federal Council to engage more to enforce humanitarian law in the Gaza Strip in a bloody conflict with Israel. Four Jura municipalities – Delémont, the Underworld, the Bémont and Soyhières – have signed this call for the moment. Moutier did the same, while the city council of Porrentruy adopted a resolution in this direction, as well as the Jurassic Parliament. The JURA – Palestine collective, which was born last May in GLOVELIER, wrote to the various Jurassic municipal executives to ask them to join the movement. A letter has also been sent to the AJC, the Jurassic Association of the Communes, so that it makes its members aware. For one of the members of the JURA – Palestine collective, Christian Frund, “the municipal councils are not only local affairs administration bodies, it is political institutions, in the noble sense of the term, which must take over from the concerns of citizens”. The letter sent by its organization to the communes affirms that “silence is a choice” and believes that being silent is to “be accomplices”. Christian Frund explains: “Those who want to be silent must also assume that they do not want to enforce humanitarian law”.
The Jura – Palestine collective claims to register “in a solidarity mobilization in Switzerland and in the world, including in Israel”. He wishes a total and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the lifting of the territory’s blocking measures set up by Israel and the massive deployment of international humanitarian aid on site. /comm-fco
