For this 2025 edition of the Locarno festival, icons on the big screen make the trip by the MAJOR Lake. The Hong Kong Master of the Jackie Chan waterfalls will receive a “pardo alla Carriera” for his whole career. He will present on the Piazza Grande his classics “Project A” (“Le Marin des Mers de China”, 1983) and “Police Story” (1985).
British actress Emma Thompson, on the other hand, will be awarded the “Leopard Club Award”. She is playing “The Dead of Winter”, Thriller presented worldwide.
American actress Lucy Liu will also be celebrated with a “Career Achievement Award”, to the delight of nostalgic “Kill Bill” or “Drôles de Dames”.
A “Pardo d’Onore” will be given to Alexander Payne on the night of Friday August 15. The American filmmaker will participate in a discussion with the public of the festival and will present his films “Nebraska” (2013) and “The Descendants” (2011), 35 mm copy from the collections of the Cinémathèque Switzerland.
This year will also be rewarded the Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani (Excellence Award), the Ticino director of animated films Marcel Barelli (Locarno Kids Award), the costume and Italian artist Milena Canonero (Vision Award), the production company Abbout Productions, based in Beyrouth (Raimondo Rezzonico) and the director Artistic of Circolo del Cinema Bellinzona Michele Dell’Ambrogio (Premio Cinema Ticino/Ticino prize for cinema).
