The National Ballet of Canada found its new director general

(Toronto) The National Ballet of Canada appointed Charlotte Geeves as a new Managing Director on Wednesday.

The chairman of the board of directors, Rags Davloor, announced that Mme Geeves will enter into September when the interim director, Amanda Ram, will resume her post of finance chef.

Mme Geeves has a vast experience of management of various cultural institutions, which makes it “an ideal partner” for artistic director Hope Muir, according to Mr. Davloor.

She arrives in Toronto from the city of Bristol, England, where she was general manager and general co -director of Bristol Old Vic in the past six years.

She explains in a press release that she is passionate about dance from an early age and that this passion has deepened during a visit as an interim director of programming at Sadler’s Wells Theater, a London performance hall.

“I believe that dance has a transformative power, transcending languages, cultures and barriers, with this unique ability to bring people together for a truly shared experience,” said Mr.me Geeves.

“It is an extraordinary privilege to join the organization and, with Hope, to lead the company to its next stage of development. I’m really delighted. I can’t wait to join the team in the fall, “she added.

Former Director General Barry Hughson left the National Ballet on 1is July 2024 to become Managing Director of the American Ballet Theater in New York.
