A cyber attack has touched the National Museum of Natural History of Paris since the end of July. A hacking that affects access to the large databases consulted by hundreds of researchers.
The Museum as well as Patrina, the Center for Expertise and Data on Nature, alerted to “a severe computer attack”, leading “to stop a large part of the systems and tools”. An incident then revealed by La Tribune on July 31.
But for two weeks, hackers have continued to attack this museum considered as one of the major resource centers of French research in biology and archeology. BFMTV tells us Tuesday, August 12, that a complaint was filed by the museum. An investigation was also opened.
“It’s a really massive attack”
“It is a truly massive attack,” launched Gilles Bloch, the president of the museum, at the microphone of Franceinfo. It is possible that data has been sucked, it is a strong motivation of cybercrime professionals to capture data to use it then to commercial aims “.
The museum does not yet know when it can project itself on a return to normal. Meanwhile, galleries, zoological parks and gardens remain open and operate normally.
