A second generation Xiaomi TV Stick 4K has been announced. New design, new interface via Google TV rather than Android TV, CPU and GPU more powerful, here is what we remember from this TV dongle.
Three and a half years after the release of his first 4K Stick TV, Xiaomi announces the second generation of his HDMI key. As with the first model, the announcement was made in a certain anonymity, the manufacturer contenting himself with publishing the product page of the device on his official website, without real communication or even simple press release.
The design of the new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is quite similar to that of its predecessor, except that it adopts a little more rounded forms and it is a little larger. Difficult to do in the original when we talk about Dongle TV. The biggest change comes from the system. The old TV Stick 4K released Android 11 and had not received any version update. His successor logically embeds Google TV, which has replaced Android TV for some time. As expected, the device is compatible with Google Cast technology (Chromecast).
The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K goes to Google TV
The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is compatible with formats Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos et DTS-X. As its name suggests, it can disseminate an image in 4K. The CPU improves, going from a quad-core Cortex-A35 configuration to quad-core Cortex-A55. The GPU evolves towards a G310 V2. Memory does not move: we stay on 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage space.
The connection consists of an HDMI 2.1 port and a micro-USB socket. Wireless connectivity is entrusted to Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 standards. An HDMI extension cable and a remote control are delivered with this second version of the Xiaomi TV 4K, which invents nothing, but which will benefit from a more modern interface and a little more solid performance.
Xiaomi does not communicate neither availability date nor price for the moment. The first 4K Stick TV first of the name is sold at 44.99 euros in France, you can expect a close price for its replacement.
