Since the start of the year, foreign tourists have spent 10.4 million nights in Swiss hotel establishments, an increase of 3.0% or 302,000 overnight stays over one year.

The Germans were the most numerous (1.83 million), ahead of nationals of the United States (1.59 million), the number of nights of which increased by 8%. British, French and Italians completed the Top 5.
Swiss tourists have generated 10.0 million overnight stays, with 0.3% since the start of the year.
Over this period, the Basel region recorded the highest increase (+7.9%), ahead of the canton of Vaud (+4.4%) and the Argovie and SOLure region (+3.9%), while the Bernese region, Geneva and Ticino fell.
Americans in force in June
In June alone, 4.2 million nights were recorded, a gain of 1.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. At the end of July, federal statisticians had anticipated an increase of 1.6% over one year, after +1.2% in a first estimate.
Foreign visitors totaled 2.3 million nights, up 0.9%, when the Swiss displayed the highest increase (+3%) with 1.9 million nights. It was the Americans who were the most identified, with 477,400 nights (+4%), ahead of the Germans (+8%) and the British (-2%).
The Graubünden increased the most (+11.8%), followed by the Friborg region (+9.6%) and its Vaud counterpart (+5.8%). On the other hand, the urban regions of Geneva and Zurich were shunned, with respective drops of 4.9% and 2.4%.
