The Rhône department is placed on a heat heat vigilance this Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at noon, announced Météo-France on Monday day due to “exceptional” and “extreme” temperatures that will continue to climb. The Rhône prefecture has therefore taken measures, restrictions and prohibitions.
“The high temperatures recorded in recent days will be intensifying in the coming hours and for several days,” warns the prefecture. The thermometer will exceed 40 ° C in Lyon Tuesday and Wednesday.
Almost stopping sites and ban on external events
“All construction activities in the building sector and public works carried out outside throughout the territory of the Metropolis of Lyon are suspended between 12:00 and 10:00,” announces the prefecture in its decree. Workers can only work in the morning during red vigilance.
The holding of any public, demand, cultural, cultural, sporting or commemorative event, outdoors or in non -air conditioning or refrigerated establishments receiving the public, is prohibited from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Rhône department and the Metropolis of Lyon.
The major events which were therefore to be held on Tuesday are canceled.
The authorities also appeal to vigilance and give advice.
- Drink water regularly without waiting to be thirsty;
- Refresh yourself and wet your body (at least the face and the front arms) several times a day;
- Eat in sufficient quantity and do not drink alcohol;
- Avoid going out during the hottest hours and spend several hours a day in a fresh place (cinema, municipal library, supermarket, etc.);
- Avoid the hottest hours of the day for sports activities;
- Keep your accommodation fresh (close windows and shutters during the day, open them in the evening and at night if it is cooler);
- Remember to regularly give your loved ones and, as soon as necessary, dare to ask for help.
The prefecture also announces the activation of the departmental operational center. Red vigilance, the highest, corresponds to an “extreme, exceptional, its duration, its intensity, its geographic extension”, with a strong impact for health and human activities. »»
