The Kremlin denounces Trump’s “illegitimate” threats to surcharge Indian products
The US leader threatened on Monday to increase the 25 % surcharge on Monday which he plans to set up on products from India, the second Russian oil buyer after China.
“We hear many statements that are practically nothing other than threats and attempts to force countries to stop their trade relations with Russia,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov, at a press point in which AFP participates, judging these “illegitimate” statements.
New assessment of people killed by Russian strikes
Three people were killed, including a railway worker in the city of Lozova in the Kharkiv region, and at least twelve others were injured in Russian strikes in northeast Ukraine, local authorities announced.
On Tuesday morning, a Russian attack left two dead and several injured near the city of Soumy, capital of the eponymous border region of Russia, in the northeast of the country. “Around 10 am, the enemy attacked Pichtchane,” said the region’s governor on Telegram Oleh Grygorov.
The strike affected “an agricultural business”, according to the latter, specifying that “research and rescue operations are underway”.
The Russian army claims to take a locality in the Dnipropetrovsk region
Units from the “East” group have “released” the locality of Sitchnévé (Ianvarskoïe in Russian) located near the border with the Ukrainian region close to Donetsk, the Russian Defense Ministry wrote in a statement.
The Netherlands buy American weapons for Ukraine
The Netherlands bought weapons for Ukraine from American reserves, the Dutch Defense Ministry announced on Monday evening.
The Hague donated military aid of 500 million euros, which includes, among other things, air defense equipment, ammunition and other essential supplies “adapted to the needs of Ukraine”, according to a ministry’s press release.
Donald Trump announced last month a project in collaboration with NATO chief Mark Rutte, so that European allies and Canada buy American weapons, including advanced Patriot systems, in order to send them to Ukraine.
Explosion of HIV cases among Russian soldiers
HIV cases in the Russian army have jumped 2000% since the start of the war in Ukraine, according to a report by Carnegie Politika, an institute for research on Russia based in Berlin. This increase would be linked to unprotected sex and drug use among troops.
A Russian “terrorist action” against people “who slept peacefully”
A railway worker was killed and four others injured in Russian strikes on the city of Lozova near Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine, where two children were also injured, the authorities said.
The attack notably affected railway infrastructure, including the locality station, killing a mechanic and injuring four other railway workers, announced the national UKRZALIZNYTSIA railway company.
Buildings as well as residential districts were also affected, said Mayor Sergiy Zelensky, who reported two injured children. “Last night, the Russians carried out a real terrorist action against peaceful people who were sleeping peacefully,” he denounced on Facebook.

Standoff between India and the United States on Russian oil purchases
The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered on Monday “unjustified” the reactions of the United States and the European Union concerning its purchases of Russian oil and promised to react to preserve the interests of its country.
Donald Trump threatened to increase the surcharge by 25 % “significantly” that he plans to set up on products from India. The Indians “do not care about the number of people who are killed in Ukraine by the Russian war machine,” said the American president.
Trump emissary expected in Russia for an “important” visit
