The story of a 100-year-old Moroccan homeless in the Netherlands was Fake

According to the Amstellodam Foundation Assadaaka, a 100 -year -old vulnerable woman wandered in the streets of Tilburg for three years after the death of her husband. It would have been neglected, undernourished and isolated. This foundation would have intervened to help the centenary find accommodation. This story moved all Tilburg. But it is improbable. “This lady has never lived one day in the street,” said a spokesperson for the town of Tilburg, without expanding on the subject. According to several sources, the old lady left for Morocco in 2022 and lived there from the family. After her departure, she was excluded from the town of Tilburg, the latter having lost her mark.

Back in the Netherlands due to a complex need for care, the old woman resided again at the family. Tilburg was not forced to take care of it, because it no longer lived the town. Despite this, the municipality with the support of the Kloek Foundation and other institutions was able to find accommodation and help it in this direction. In addition, a working group from the Moroccan community was closely involved in its departure in Morocco and its return to the Netherlands. The PVDA municipal councilor of Tilburg Aziza Aboulkacem, who is in contact with this working group, confirmed that the woman has never lived in the street.

“What touches me is the idea that Madame was abandoned to her fate and that the institutions concerned would have failed Tilburg. That’s wrong. On the contrary: a lot of time, attention and efforts have been deployed to help Madame. If Madame had really lived in the street, I would even have collected her at home, ”writes on Linkedin, social worker Fatima Elabbassi, also involved in the case.
