This is an important news for lovers of the Tesla brand, but also for all those who want to approach energy autonomy. Tesla has just officially announced the marketing in France of its Powerwall 3. It will therefore have taken a year and a half before Tesla’s domestic battery arrived in France. But be careful: to get it, you will have to get rid of a tidy sum.
This PowerWall 3 displays interesting characteristics such as a maximum power of 11.04 kW and 13.5 kWh of total capacity. According to Tesla, this battery is suitable for optimizing solar production thanks to an integrated inverter of 20 kW, but also for emergency power thanks to automatic detection of power cuts. Finally, the “Time-Based Control Mode” mode makes it possible to reduce your electricity bill by loading the battery during off-peak hours to unload it during full hours.
For this third generation, Tesla also sought to make its product as robust as possible. This can thus operate by temperatures ranging from -20 ° C to 50 ° C, while supporting a very high humidity. The battery may even continue to operate by being submerged by 60 cm. These characteristics allow it to be installed indoors and outdoors.

Up to 94.5 kWh capacity
Like most of its rivals, the PowerWall is modular, even if Tesla indicates that a single module is enough to supply a house and reduce the energy autonomy by 69 %. At the maximum, it is possible to couple four PowerWall 3, as well as three expansion batteries. Under these conditions, the total power reaches 44 kW in direct current, and 94.5 kWh of storage capacity.
On the price side, the invoice promises to be salty despite everything. It takes € 6,450 excluding taxes per battery, as well as € 1,150 for the Gateway backup, the management and central control system of the storage system. These prices are indicated without VAT, delivery or installation. It will therefore probably be necessary to count at least € 10,000 to be able to benefit from a PowerWall 3 commissioned by a certified installer. It is considerably more expensive than domestic batteries plug and play Competent as the Streams of Ecoflow, Solarflow from Zendure or Solarbank of Anker Solix. For example, you have to pay € 6,496 VAT and shipping costs included to match the storage capacity of a Tesla Powerwall 3 with Ecoflow Stream batteries.
