Each year, the Ocean Photographer of the Year (OPY) competition, organized by Oceanographic Magazine and supported by Blancpain, celebrates the most beautiful images from the oceans around the world. For this 2025 edition, thousands of photos were submitted by the best marine photographers. The funding, freshly revealed, offer us a fascinating dive in the heart of beauty, fragility and power of the oceans.
These photos are not only spectacular: they tell stories -you can discover in the photo slideshow -. Some transport us to magical places, others reveal the artistic grace of marine landscapes. But they also testify to the threats that weigh on underwater life and unwavering ties that unite people and the ocean. “In the midst of a climate crisis and biodiversity, ocean photography is more essential than ever. These images are powerful visual testimonies of what we risk losing and recall the urgency of acting to protect our oceans, ”explains Will Harrison, director of the competition.
The winners of each category, as well as the big winner of the Ocean Photographer of the Year 2025, will be revealed later in September.
