Almost 1,500 lightnings in a few hours
Wind gusts reached 68 kilometers/hour in Toulouse at 7 p.m., according to Météo France data. It fell 20 millimeters of rain in the pink city.
Haute-Garonne was affected by 1,460 lightning between 3 and 9 p.m.including 791 between 5 and 6 pm, according to data from the French Observatory for Tornado and violent thunderstorms, Keraunos. The town of Sainte-Foy-de-Peyrolières alone has counted 75 lightning impacts. And 37 lightnings hit the pink city.
Repeated fires
The center and west of the department were particularly impactedwhich precipitated the number of firefighters’ interventions for fires.
The Lauragais was not particularly spared: in Grépiac, a fire destroyed 5 hectares of forest. South of the department, 10 hectares were destroyed in Melleson the border with Spain.
