Titles given by King Philippe before July 21: 20 Belgians were awarded a title of nobility or an honorary decoration

Professor emeritus at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Antwerp and former director of the Vaccinopolis Research Center, Pierre Van Damme, as well as the president of the Benelux of intellectual property and major Catholic conferences, Emmanuel Cornu, received the title of Baron.

Other titles awarded

Contemporary artist Francis de Smedt, known as Francis Alÿs, was made knight.

Baron Jan Huyghebaert, who was until recently chairman of the board of directors of the Queen Elisabeth competition, was ordered grand officer of the order of the crown. The lawyer and musician Simon Gronowski, also former president of the Union of Jewish deportees in Belgium, daughters and son of the deportation, also received this honorary title.

Louis de Cannière, founder of Investment Management; Arnaud Marchant, director of the European Plotkin Institute for Vaccinology and research director at the Scientific Research Fund; Saskia Van Uffelen, who has held management positions in many key companies in the information and communication technology sector; Jean Waterschoot, CEO of Texaf and adviser in Economic diplomacy in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as well as Catherine de Bolle, general commissioner of police during the Brussels attacks in 2016 and now director of Europol, received the title of Commander of the Order of Leopold.

Finally, Chantal Couvreur, founder of the first palliative care service and co -founder of the Belgian Palliative Care Federation, was made commander of the Crown Order. This is also the case of the painter Samuel Dillemans and Jacqueline de Montjoye, who has evolved within numerous associations carrying a social, cultural or patriotic character.
