Tour de France, 19th step: the card of the new course after the removal of the seizure pass

The route of the 19th stage of the Tour de France, between Albertville and La Plagne in Savoie, this Friday, July 25, was revised at the last minute Thursday evening.

The organizers withdrew the passage through the col of seizures due to a health home. The stage was therefore shortened about thirty kilometers.

If the departure of the last mountain stage remains set in Albertville, the kick -off will be given at 2:30 p.m., an hour later than expected.

Exit therefore the Héry-sur-Ugine coast and the seizure collar: the 129.9 km stage is shortened at 93.1 km. The peloton will find the initial route at the 15th km, before Beaufort.

The menu remains full -bodied with three major climbs: the Pre -PRE (12.6 km at 7.7 %), the Cormet de Roselend (5.9 km at 6.3 %) and the final ascent to La Plagne (19.1 km at 7.2 %). Arrival planned at 2,052 m altitude.

The organizer Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) has chosen to modify the course “to preserve the serenity of the race”, according to a press release published the day before.

This Friday morning, Christian Prudhomme gave new details, on RTL: “It is because of an extremely contagious disease that affects the cows, the contagious nodular dermatosis, and which rages on the collar of seizures precisely, on the farms alongside the course which was planned. And the farmers, the breeders wanted us to be able to change. We did so in agreement with the authorities, to prevent this disease from spreading a little further in other valleys. ”
