Flag that generates runners, struck signs, smoke bombs … Every year, incidents take place on the road to the Tour de France and can sometimes endanger athletes and supporters. This is why, the departmental council, the city of Auch and the Gers prefecture recalled, in a joint press release, the safety instructions to be respected before, during and after the passage of the peloton.

Along the route, some axes can be closed to traffic. It is essential to respect the deviations put in place and to follow the authorities’ recommendations.

“Photos, videos, snaps, tweets, stories … Nothing justifies to put themselves in danger, do not take on the road”, alerted the press release. The use of drones is prohibited on the route of the Tour.

It is asked to stay behind the safety barriers if there are any and not to change location at the last moment, as the caravan or runners approaches. To watch the peloton pass, do not settle at the outlet of a turn, where the visibility is low. The aisles can be used by runners, it is therefore recommended to deviate as much as possible from the road.

Dogs must be held on a leash and it is requested not to spray or run alongside the runners. “For their safety, do not go in front of them, even to encourage them.”

Finally, in case of hot weather, you will have to think of caps, school cream and hydration.

An important safety device

To guarantee a good time to spectators and teams, the Gers prefecture has deployed an important security device. “This event must remain a very nice party. It is therefore necessary to plan a maximum,” says Alain Castanier, the prefect of Gers.
