Donald Trump announced on Thursday the holding of a peace of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, marking, according to him, a “historic” turning point in this territorial conflict which has been tearing the two ex-Soviet republics for decades. The meeting is to take place this Friday, in Washington, in the presence of President Azerbaijani Ilham Aliev and the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pachinian.
“Many leaders have tried to end the war, until now, thanks to Trump,” said the White House chief on Thursday evening on his Truth Social network, personally claiming the diplomatic success of the operation.
A tripartite agreement with the United States
The signature ceremony, scheduled for 4:15 p.m. (8:15 p.m. GMT), should devote a tripartite agreement between the United States, Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to information relayed by CBS, one of the key elements of this text would be the creation of a 43 -kilometer corridor through Armenian territory. This strategic axis would be baptized the “Trump path for international peace and prosperity”, or tripp, and would give Washington development and supervision rights.
The summit will take place in two stages. Donald Trump will first receive each of the two leaders separately to sign bilateral agreements between the United States and their respective countries.
