Turkish President Erdogan congratulates Macron and defends a two -state solution

The reactions continue to flock after the announcement of Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, that France would recognize the State of Palestine in September at the UN. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated his French counterpart in this decision during a telephone interview between the two leaders, the Turkish presidency said this Sunday.

“A two -state solution is essential for sustainable peace in the region,” said the Turkish head of state during this conversation, calling on the international community to “act” in the face of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, according to the presidency press release.

Turkish Foreign Deputy Minister Nuh Yilmaz will participate on Monday and Tuesday in New York in a conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia aimed at reviving the idea of a two-state solution in the Middle East, a Turkish diplomatic source said on Sunday.
