Two thirds of Belgians plan to change employer

Unemployment reform: Walloon CPAS fear the loss of 500 jobs

In detail, 44% want to change the sector (26% want to work in another function while 18% want to keep a similar function) and 5% plan to change status, from an employee to independent. Fifteen percent wish a new employer, without changing career.

Chilliness of the market

Four out of ten respondents wishing to change employer consider that they will take a few months to find a shoe at their foot, an upward proportion compared to the survey carried out a year ago (33%). Only 28% think that a few weeks will be enough to find a new job, compared to 32% last year.

These results demonstrate the reluctance of the current job market, while fewer respondents testify also to be approached regularly by recruiters. Maria Ferritto, expert at Acerta Consult, also underlines that it “remains easier to change jobs than to find work if one does not (yet)”.

The employment rate of 20-64 years in decline in Charleroi after five years of progression

Another teaching of the study: 28% of respondents under the age of 30 say they intend to stay with their current employer throughout their careers. “The rate of 28 % certainly represents a minority, but it is higher than what could be supposed,” slips Ms. Ferritto.
