Ubisoft names Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot Co-Ceos of his new subsidiary
Paris – July 16, 2025 – Ubisoft today announces a new step in the creation of its new subsidiary – announced on March 27 – with the appointment of Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot as Co -Ceos.
Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot benefit from the courses with additional expertise. They provide solid expertise in the industry, in -depth knowledge of the Ubisoft ecosystem, as well as a common innovation culture.
Christophe Derennes has been working at Ubisoft for over 35 years. With a great experience in operational management and production, Christophe notably launched and directed the Montreal studio. He also played a key role in the definition of editorial strategy and in production on major titles. He recently held the position of Managing Director for North America.
Charlie Guillemot has built a hybrid career at the crossroads of management and innovation. His experience in the development of games brings him an entrepreneurial perspective and a fine understanding of the dynamics of the sector and the expectations of the players. Carried by a strong product culture, an anchoring in tech and a real passion for video games, it embodies a new generation of leaders turned towards innovation, quality requirement and the desire to place players at the heart of decisions.
Together, they will direct the subsidiary in order to build ecosystems of sustainable and multiplateform games and to continue the development of emblematic franchises of Ubisoft.
Created to accelerate the growth of three of Ubisoft’s most emblematic franchises – Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six et Far Cry – The new subsidiary will focus on the construction of brand ecosystems capable of becoming lasting franchises with high economic potential. Supported by growing investments and Tencent’s expertise as a key strategic partner, it will offer the development teams more autonomy and agility to fully achieve the potential of these emblematic franchises, while shaping the next generation of experiences for players.
The creation of the new subsidiary progresses well. Tencent’s investment in this subsidiary, subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities, remains expected by the end of 2025.
HAS Interview with Christophe Derennes
With 35 years of experience, Christophe Derennes joined Ubisoft in 1990 and participated in all the main stages of its development. He co -founded Ubisoft Montreal in 1997 and helped structure the group’s quality control functions. As an executive production vice-president, he supervised the development of many successful games. Appointed managing director of the Montreal studio in 2020, he took the lead in North American studios in 2023. His management style, listening, proximity and collaboration, makes him a respected and appreciated leader.
HAS About Charlie Guillemot
Both passionate about video games and technologies, Charlie started his career in video games at Owlient, a studio acquired by Ubisoft. In 2014, he took the co-direction of this 35-people studio, then recognized for his free-to-play games on browser. Under its leadership, the studio gradually directs its activity to the mobile.
Animated by the desire to explore new creative territories in video games, he co -launched in 2021 Unagi, an independent studio operating web3 technologies. This experience allows him to acquire a direct understanding of a changing market and deep transformations at work in the industry.
Charlie’s vision in terms of video game creation is based on some fundamental principles
: Place the gameplay at the heart of the experience, rely on collective intelligence, push the limits of quality and meet the expectations of players, while instilling a real passion for the game in the decision -making process.
Back at Ubisoft in 2025 to join the internal transformation committee, Charlie brings a fresh look, an in -depth knowledge of the industry and an assertive desire to reconcile innovation and approach centered on players.
Charlie holds a Bachelor in Business Management from the University of Warwick and a Master of Science in IT of the University College London.
