Donald Trump threatened on Monday to apply “very severe customs duties” against the allies of Russia in the event of the absence of an agreement on the war in Ukraine “within 50 days”.
“I am disappointed with President Putin, because I thought we would have an agreement two months ago, but that does not seem to materialize,” the American president told the White House, alongside the NATO secretary general, Mark Rutte, adding that “therefore, we will set up secondary customs duties”, that is to say on the allies of Moscow. “If we do not have an agreement within 50 days, it’s very simple, (customs duties) will be 100% and that’s how it is,” he added.
The 50 -day time given to Russia by President Donald Trump before possible sanctions represents a “very long” duration when “innocent civilians die every day,” Kaja Kallas’s head of European diplomacy said on Monday.
“It’s very positive, President Trump adopts a firm position with regard to Russia. On the other hand, 50 days, it is very long if we see that they also kill innocent civilians every day, “said Estonian official in front of the press.
