The unemployment rate of seniors aged 50 and over is stable over the quarter at 4.8 % and 0.2 points compared to the second quarter of 2024. That of 25-49 year olds increased by 0.2 points over the quarter and by 0.3 points over one year to 6.9 %.
The unemployment rate of women is “almost stable” (-0.1 points) to 7.3 %, while that of men increased from 0.2 points to 7.7 %.
The halo around unemployment, made up of people who want a job but do not seek or are not immediately available, reached 1.9 million people, or 4.4 % of the population of 15-64 year olds. It increases slightly over the quarter, by 21,000 people, but decreases by 51,000 people over one year.
Finally, the employment rate continues to progress, although very slightly, in the second quarter, reaching 69.6 %, its highest historic since INSEE began to measure it in 1975. It was 0.5 points above its level in the second quarter 2024.
