For the Walloon Federation, “the Federal must provide an envelope that is up to the challenge of the limitation of unemployment benefits and the objective of professional integration. This implies significant additional costs in terms of integration income, but also increase in personnel, equipment and infrastructure”, she insists, without citing desired amount.
Thursday morning, the main ministers of the federal government will meet for a meeting “at the finish” in order to reach a large summer agreement. Among the arbitrations to be operated on is the compensation to the CPAS in the context of the unemployment reform, which must enter into force on January 1, 2026. At the current stadium, the Wever team provides global envelopes of 234 million for 2026 and 2027, 302 million for 2028 and 342 million for 2029, amounts deemed insufficient by the engaged.
In addition to the unemployment reform, the most pressing threats concern the “participation fund and social activation” and the “winter plan”, estimates the federation. These two devices are described as “usurped skills” by the federal government. These are skills funded by the federalty but exercised by other levels of power. “These means have always been granted to us, why are they considered today in federal skills?” Asks Dorothée Klein. “Behind these means, there are men and women who risk sleeping outside. However, the welcome during the winter must prepare now.”
The Federation also points to the end of several Walloon subsidies, for example for jobs linked to “homeless territories” and “zero-local territories” projects.
