There are no words to express the pain represented by the loss of a child in such a horrible and insane way
said Marcell Wilson, president and founder of the armed antiviolence movement One by One and family friend.
An innocent life has been taken, a family has been broken, and our community is in mourning. The death of a childhood child reminds us that this crisis has gone far too far. When our children are no longer safe in their homes, in their streets, in their neighborhoods, in their own beds, we must recognize that we have dropped them.
This young boy should have had his whole life in front of him and we have to do better
he concluded.
I share the anger and the pain aroused by this loss
said mayor Olivia Chow on X. My heart is with their family, their loved ones and the whole community. Armed violence must stop in our city.
An unimaginable tragedy
Agents responded to calls for shots in a residential complex on Martha Eaton Way near the intersection of Trethewey Drive around 0.30 am, says Sergeant-Dettective Jason Davis.
Upon arrival, they found the boy with bullet. The agents immediately tried to revive him, with the help of firefighters and paramedics
he specifies.
The child was urgently transported to the hospital where his death was noted.
It is an unimaginable tragedy, which happened here.
What is sadest in this story is that the child was at home, in his bed […] when it was reached by a lost bullet
explains Mr. Davis.
The detective sergeant adds that two other apartments have been reached by bullets, but that there are no other victims.
What happened here is an act of cowardly and repugnant violence, he deplores. We mobilize all the resources available for this survey.
Police say they have no description of a suspect or a vehicle for the moment and ask anyone with information to come forward.
