Up to 60,000 less jobs in the federal

The federal public service could lose up to 60,000 jobs by 2028, according to a report by the Canadian Center for Alternative Policy.

While the government wants to finance major increases in military spending. Therefore, tax cuts, the Minister of Finance, François-Philippe Champagne, asked each ministry to identify compressions of 15 % of their program expenses.

The report by economist David Macdonald estimates that this will result in a loss of 57,000 full -time equivalents. Moreover, Agencies such as the Canada Revenue Agency (ARC), Social Development and Immigration Canada would be particularly affected.

The cities of Ottawa and Gatineau should take almost half of these losses, or more than 24,000 abolis posts.
