And loup was shot in the Conches region on Monday morning. The head of the Valais department of economics and training (DEF), Christophe Darbellay, had ordered one of these animals installed in the region last Thursday. The large predator had killed seven pension animals in a protected situation in the space of a month.
The revised provisions of the federal hunting ordinance, entry into force on 1is February 2025, authorize the cantonal authorities to order a shot from six sheep or goat killed over a four -month period in protected or unstable situations. Hence the decision taken by Christophe Darbellay.
The decision to shoot down the animal was consecutive to consultations with the hunting, fishing and fauna service (SCPF), competent in terms of protected species regulation and agriculture service (SCA), responsible for the protection of herds.
According to the SCPF, the presence of an isolated wolf was attested before the decision to shoot it was taken.
