Valais: Latest cry for dogs and cats homeless

Loulou, a Crusader Australian Shepherd, lived months of galley in the forests of Crans-Montana. Today, it has a box with garden at the Valais Spa in Uvrier.

Loulou has a sad look. And humans, he prefers to avoid them. In its comfortable space of 60 m², box and garden, the large clumsy dog is struggling to stop, as if it were still wandering. The Crusader Australian Shepherd, about 5 years old was welcomed on July 30 in the new refuge in Uvrier (VS). “It takes at least two months before he regains normal behavior,” explains Biliana Perruchoud, president of the Valais SPA. It is little, given that he lived. ”

Its presence has been reported in the past eight months in the Crans-Montana forests. But clever in devil, the wandering dog thwarted attempts to approach. Even charitable souls, who came to bring him to eat, had to leave the premises long before he emptied his bowl. “Crans-Montana was great,” continues the SPA president. They all mobilized. Finally, the gamekeeper managed to locate him and put him to sleep after two shots with a hypodermic rifle. ”

He has a French chip. The current police investigation should identify Loulou’s master. Although the hypothesis of the lost dog cannot be dismissed, the presence of the remains of a rope around the neck suggests the abandonment of an animal, also attached. According to article 521-1 of the French penal code, this kind of cruelty and mistreatment, is liable to three years’ imprisonment and 45,000 euros fine. But these maximum penalties are rarely applied. As for Loulou, justice will decide accordingly if it will be returned to its owners, or entrusted definitively to the Valais SPA for an adoption.

Bull-Terrier prohibited in Valais

Other residents, among the forty dogs or cats who are survived or entrusted, will cross paths with Loulou. There is, resulting from a receiver, Tyron, a six -year -old American bulldog. Shy, he shows tenderness when he trusts. The oldest resident of the Valais SPA is Jimmy, eight years old, has been waiting for a good master or mistress for two years. “This crusader Bull-Terrier, also victim of a receiver, nevertheless has everything to please,” says Maurane, an employee of the refuge. A dog’s love that overflows with energy and brilliant health. ” The catch, it will have to be adopted outside Valais due to cantonal legislation on prohibited breeds. On the other hand, all the other French -speaking cantons would authorize its arrival.

The floor is mainly devoted to cattery. To the delight of Stéphane, 7, a Lausannois passing through Uvrier, ready to adopt a kitten of the ten deposited, recently, in front of the main door. “A cat is not a toy,” recalls Biliana Perruchoud. And we do not give animals without being sure that they will be well treated. ” Built on a plot of 4200 m², the refuge occupies half of the surface. Nursery, conference room, even a consultation area equipped for small veterinary interventions are present. “Everything is finally up to standard,” adds the president, which has not been the case for a long time in the former Ardon refuge. “

The president of the Valais SPA is a fighter

Biliana Perruchoud, a tireless fighter, fought for a decade to obtain a place ready to welcome animal distress with dignity. If she won an important battle, she knows that the war is not over: “I always call for donations on our site www.spavalais.ch. Municipalities, institutions and individuals should not imagine that with the new Uvrier refuge, we have solved all the problems. Just for its construction, we had to borrow two million and we must soon reimburse the first tranche of interest. To your good heart! “
