Here is the face of the future Samaritan whose historic southern facade will be preserved.
Riviera-Chablais HospitalWell known to the inhabitants of the Riviera, the former Samaritan hospital in Vevey (VD), now unoccupied, will be completely renovated. The support foundation of the Riviera-Chablais Hospital (FSHRC) obtained the building permit for the complete renovation of the establishment, she said on Monday.
This project, estimated at 40 million francs, begins this week and plans to commission the end of 2027. The old hospital will be transformed into a modern community health center, intended to strengthen the proximity offer and meet the growing needs of the population, in particular seniors.
75 beds for seniors
The future site will host a clinic for geriatrics and rehabilitation of 75 beds divided into five units, as well as a center of geriatric expertise specializing in the early detection of age -related disorders. A medical permanence will also be open 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The project also includes community care services: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutritional monitoring at home, coordination with family doctors, social assistance, support for caregivers and transport for people with reduced mobility.
In total, more than 150 health professionals will work on the site, in collaboration with the Haut-Léman health network and various regional partners. The multidisciplinary and integrated approach aims to combine care, prevention and health promotion. The future Samaritan will also offer health promotion and prevention services accessible to the entire population.
A hospital built in 1850
The renovation of the Samaritan, built in the 1850s, plans to keep the building envelope, including the South historical facade. A new entry, unique, will be fitted out to the north. It will lead directly to the central hall and will be open to a newly created patio. The upper floors will welcome patients in rehabilitation and geriatrics. They will have rooms of 1 to 2 south -oriented beds (s) with balconies. Outside, a garden will be fitted out, so that residents and their loved ones can take advantage of exteriors safely.
