A 24 -year -old young woman who was the victim of sexual assault during a night flight is fighting currently to obtain compensation from British justice.

The incident occurred during an Qatar Airways flight connecting Doha to London Gatwick in September 2024. The young woman, returning from a trip to Africa, was softened under a cover with her headphones, exhausted by her long journey, reports the BBC.
About two hours before landing, she would have woken up to discover that a man, sitting by her side, was sexually assaulting him.
The passenger was none other than Momade Moussab, 66, currently imprisoned.

Almost a year after the facts, the young woman says she has trouble continuing her daily life and fights to obtain compensation. She told the BBC that the man had installed a second cover on them before attacking her.
“His hands were in my pants and I asked him,” What are you doing? ” I replied: “Stop”. He replied: “No, please”. I had to tear my hand from my pants, and I got up immediately. I left my phone, my bag, my passport, everything. I left my shoes and ran to the bathroom, I left the door open and I warned the hostess of the air, ”she says.
The victim would first have been brought to a cabin crew seat before being moved elsewhere in the cabin until landing.
“I had to take it upon myself during the rest of the trip by plane, it was horrible. I was so anxious … as soon as I met someone, I was in instantly panicked, because I thought it was him, ”she recalls.
The sixty -something man was arrested upon landing the flight at Gatwick airport. He was then charged with sexual assault per penetration and two chiefs of sexual assault. He was found guilty after a trial in March.
Request for compensation refused
The victim is now fighting to obtain compensation as part of a government’s compensation program for victims of sexual or physical abuse.
However, his request was refused, twice, on the grounds that the offense had not taken place in a “relevant place”.
According to the regulations in force, an aircraft is only considered a “relevant place” if it is registered in the United Kingdom in accordance with article 92 of the 1982 law on civil aviation.
The young woman was denied financial compensation due to the fact that the incident took place on a plane registered in Qatar. She finds this decision unfair.
“I understand that he was condemned, that he pays the price of his act. But what about me? I cannot afford to follow certain therapies. I just want to be compensated for what I have experienced. I want professional help and be heard, ”she told the BBC.
The young woman calls on British justice to fill what she considers a gap in law.
