Tennis: In Montreal, Mboko beat four Grand Chelem winners
There are many of them achieving this feat during a WTA 1000 tournament. Since her victory in Montreal, the Canadian has been part of this very closed circle.

IMAGO/PRESSE SPORTSAt just 18 years old and only ranked 85th in the world, Victoria Mboko achieved a real feat by winning the Canada Open in Montreal.
But what is even more remarkable is that to win in her first WTA 1000, the Canadian has released four players who have already won a Grand Chelem tournament: Sofia Kenin (WTA 28), Coco Gauff (WTA 2), Elena Rybakina (WTA 10) and Naomi Osaka (WTA 25).

Before Victoria Mboko, only five players had managed to pay so many majority winners in the same WTA 1000: Daria Kasatkina (Indian Wells 2018), Sloane Stephens (Miami 2018), Kiki Bertens (Madrid 2019), Madison Keys (Cincinnati 2019) and Jessica Pegula (Guadalajara 2022).
This statistic also has the merit of immersing us in the recent history of female tennis and to remind us that Sloane Stephens triumphed in Grand Chelem (US Open in 2017), just like Jeļena Ostapenko (Roland-Garros in 2017), Svetlana Kuznetsova (US Open 2004 and Roland Garros 2009), Bianca Andreescu (US Open 2019) Garbiñe Muguruza (Roland-Garros in 2016 and Wimbledon 2017).
Among the ladies, 37 players won a high school in the 21st century. Despite the domination of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, 24 Gentlemen have won in Grand Chelem since the year 2000.
