War in Ukraine: kyiv claims to have destroyed a BK-16 ship and several Russian Radar installations in Crimea

A new prolific attack. Drones exploited by the Ukrainian army have struck several Russian military targets of great value in Crimea occupied in the morning of Thursday, August 7, reports The Kyiv Independent.

The combat drones of the special “ghost” unit managed to touch a high-speed BK-16-speed landing ship of project 02510, as well as a quick landing boat intended for coastal operations and troop transport, the Ukrainian military intelligence agency (HUR) on Telegram announced.

The BK-16s are designed for operations in the sea areas, straits, estuaries and lakes, as well as for the transport of staff disembarking on an unfunied coast and serve as fire support.

Several radars essential to the Russian air defense system on the peninsula have also been destroyed. Among these installations were the Nebo-SVU, a long-range radar capable of detecting ballistic aircraft and missiles, the Podlet-K1, which identifies the flying targets at low altitude, and the 98L6 Yenisei, a radar of the S-500 Air Defense System.

“Serious losses”

“After serious losses of air defense facilities on the peninsula … Russian occupants in Crimea began to hide their costly military facilities in dome -shaped structures,” said Ukrainian military intelligence agency.

One of these domes, located at the top of Mount Aï-Pétri, located in the south of Crimea, would have been targeted by the strike. Ukrainian forces claim that it housed equipment belonging to the third Radiotechnical Regiment of Russian Air Forces.

If Moscow did not react following these strikes which undoubtedly caused significant material damage, the Russian media reported a series of explosions in the peninsula. The Russian Defense Ministry said it had killed 18 drones above the Crimea between 6:20 am and 10:35 am, Moscow time, reports The Kyiv Independent.

If this information is confirmed, it would be a new prolific drone attack in the region for kyiv which had already managed to target Saky aerodrome and receive five Russian fighter planes on Sunday, on Monday, August 4.
