“We went on vacation with a quiet spirit and we come back to find ourselves unemployed. We are all in shock, ”laments the president of the union, Geneviève Carter, for the use of Plastube for 23 years.

“It is obnoxious to put his employees at the door overnight”, plagues the president of the Federation of the manufacturing industry-CSN, Kevin Gagnon.

In early August, the Plastube factory declared bankruptcy. She dragged debts of more than $ 12 million, including $ 2.4 million in Investissement Québec (IQ), according to documents consulted by The newspaper.

Eight years ago, the Minister of the Economy of the time, Dominique Anglade, had lent $ 1.7 million to the Plastube to help her buy $ 11 million new equipment.

In Granby, the 70,000 square feet factory, the equivalent of a football field, was well known since its foundation in 1963.

You could produce 100,000 tubes per year. Giants like Avon and Unilever have already been customers.
